Title: The Former Residence of Lu Haodong

Lu Haodong (1867~1895) positively participated in planning Guangzhou Uprising with Dr. Sun Yat-sen in 1895, and designed the flag with a white sun against the blue sky. After the failure of the rising, Lu Haodong was arrested for destroying the list of the revolutionaries and sacrificed in glory. He was praised by Dr. Sun Yat-sen as the ¡°1st person who sacrificed for democratic revolution since the beginning of Chinese history¡±.
The Former Residence of Lu Haodong was located in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Town, Zhongshan, Guangdong Province. As the place where Martyr Lu Haodong lived and grew up, it was established in the late Qing Dynasty. Sitting west, it covers an area of around 446 square meters, of which the construction area reaches 215 square meters. It features the typical local ¡°3 bays and 2 galleries¡± brick-wood construction. The architectural style is very simple. Colored paintings can be found under the roof, and the wood couplet ¡°2 lineal offspring, a couple of great ones¡± is hung in the front of the gate. In the front of the Former Residence there¡¯s a courtyard, planted with South China plantations. The Former Residence of Lu Haodong was listed as Guangdong Province Cultural Relic Protection Unit by Guangdong Province People¡¯s Government in June, 1989.Go Back
