In his early years, Yang Yin (1892~1929) followed Dr. Sun Yat-sen for revolution. Since his joining the Communist Party of China in the autumn of 1922, Yang Yin had been dedicating himself to leading labor movement. He once joined in launching and leading the Great Strike of Guangzhou and Hong Kong and Guangzhou Uprising which shocked the world. He once served as a member of People¡¯s Committee of Eliminating Counter-revolutionaries of the Chinese Soviet Republic, deputy chairman of People¡¯s Committee of the Chinese Soviet Republic, alternative committee member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, alternative member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, Military Minister of the Central Committee, and the member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee. Due to the traitor Bai Xin¡¯s informing against him, Yang Yin, together with Peng Pai and other revolutionaries, was arrested and sacrificed gloriously in Long Hua, Shanghai in August, 1929. After the sacrifice of Yang Yin and Peng Pai, an anniversary issue was published in the Party magazine Red Flag by the Communist Party of China, and Pengyang Military Memorial Schools were set up in western Fujian, Nanshan of Guangdong Province, Yangxin County of Hubei Province and other revolutionary base areas, so as to commemorate Peng Pai and Yang Yin, the two ¡°giants among the revolutionary workers and peasants¡±. In accordance with the decision made by the temporary central government of China Soviet Republic in July, 1933, a part of Xinguo County in Jiangxi Province was assigned to establish a new county¡ª¡ªYangyin County, so as to commemorate Yang Yin and Peng Pai.
The Former Residence of Yang Yin is located in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang Town, Zhongshan, Guangdong Province. Established in Guangxu Period of Qing Dynasty, it has a construction area of 244 square meters. Sitting west, it features the typical ¡°3 bays and 2 galleries¡± brick-wood construction. The hall directly reaches the tiling; bedrooms at both sides are divided into 2 stories by wood board; kitchen and the rice-husking room are built in the south. Inside the hall there¡¯s a courtyard, making full use of natural air and light; the floor is paved with the traditional red brick; exquisite brick carvings, wood carvings, plaster decoration, colored paintings and other types of decoration are used, embodying the traditional architectural features of South China. The Former Residence of Yang Yin was listed as Guangdong Province Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit by Guangdong Provincial People¡¯s Government in June, 1989.Go Back
