The traditional handcraft of Huangpu preserved meats: Huangpu preserved meats originated in Guangxu Period of Qing Dynasty. Invented by Wang Liansheng, the master of a folk food workshop in Huangpu, Huangpu preserved meats are made with local original materials through unique handcrafts. Huangpu preserved meats boast excellent color, fragrance, and taste, and are typical representatives of Guangdong preserved meats. Techniques such as cutting, pickling, drying and baking have reached a relatively high level. Due to the excellent fragrance and taste, Huangpu preserved meats are very welcome among people. As a result, local folks imitated them, spurring the development of the industry of the preserved meats.
During the over 100 years since the invention of Huangpu preserved meats, traditional handcrafts have experienced relatively sound inheritance and development. Huangpu preserved meats have developed from the initial single sausage into the present numerous types including sausage, preserved meats, preserved fish, and preserved ducks. With the product sales of accounting for 60% of the national preserved meats market, Huangpu Town was granted the title ¡°China¡¯s Famous Town of Preserved Food¡± by China Food Association in 2004.Go Back
