Congshan Hall Historical and Cultural District is located inside Zhongshan Historical City Proper. The protection area starts from Minsheng Road in the east and ends at Congshanfang in the west, starts from Gonghe Lane in the south and extends to Guojia Lane, and includes Guanying Lane (once called the Central Jiefang Road 12th Lane) in the center. The total land area hits 1.6 hectares.
The lanes in Congshan Hall Historical District, mainly Guojia Lane, Guanyin Lane, Congshan Hall and Gonghe Lane, have retained the original size and features, and are well distributed. The block division of the traditional civilian residence courtyards is relatively small, mainly focusing on the narrow courtyard blocks perpendicular to lanes. The courtyards inside the block are mostly rectangular and polygon, and the lanes are relatively smooth and regularly divided. Congshan Hall Historical and Cultural District mainly reflects the overseas Chinese culture and the living culture of the traditional dwellers. The intact architectural complex combines both Chinese and western styles; the lanes adopt the layout of the early Republic of China; people have a harmonious living atmosphere¡ªall of these are of great historical and cultural value for the study of the influence of Zhongshan overseas Chinese culture on civilian life.Go Back
