Shachong Historical and Cultural District is located in the Southern District of Zhongshan. Its protection coverage starts from Jiaozhong Street and Yingbiao Road in the south and ends in Changxing Street and 9th Hengling Street in the north, and stretches from 3rd Renhe Lane in the west to Zexiu Street in the east, covering an area of 15.97 hectares.
The history of Shachong Historical and Cultural Districts could be dated back to Song Dynasty. Adopting the form of lanes, the district layout attaches great importance to the geomantic omen of lanes. The fishbone district layout is formed by many scattered intertwining lanes. Inside the district, the pattern of the lanes in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China has been kept completely. And the names have been inherited till now. The selection of the site of Shachong (mainly based on sandy rivers), the creation of the local architecture and the living environment are all based on the theory of the ancient ¡°geomantic omen¡± study, representing the characteristics of the traditional culture in the South of the Five Ridges.Go Back
